Haydn's masterpiece, the Missa in Angustiis, was a vision of hope in a time of great anxiety. Gabriela Lena Frank's 21st century masterwork Leyendas combines western classical and Andean folk music traditions, drawing on the concept of mestizaje, where cultures co-exist without the subjugation of one by the other.

Secret Chamber Music: Nathan Chan, Carlin Ma, and Daniel Stein

Cellist Nathan Chan joined the Seattle Symphony earlier this year at age 23. He collaborates with SMCO artists Carlin Ma (piano) and Daniel Stein (flute) for a program of Beethoven, Schumann, Villa Lobos, and Martinu at a private residence in Seattle's Wedgwood-Lavilla neighborhood.
