Hymn to the Sun

  • St Stephen's Episcopal Church Seattle (map)

Emerald Ensemble with Artistic Director Gary D. Cannon

SMCO is joined by the acclaimed singers of the Emerald Ensemble for the first time in a special performance highlighting the ebullient beauty of French music. The warmth of Ravel's popular Mother Goose Suite is complemented by the brightness of two choral works by Lili Boulanger, heard for the first time in an orchestral setting in the world premiere of Geoffrey Larson's new arrangements.

Gabriel Fauré: Pavane (version with chorus)
Édouard Lalo: Deux abades for Dectet
Maurice Ravel: Suite from Ma mère l'Oye (Mother Goose)
Maurice Ravel: Three Poems of Stéphane Mallarmé
Lili Boulanger, orch. Larson: Sous bois (Undergrowth)
Lili Boulanger, orch. Larson: Hymne au Soleil (Hymn to the Sun)
