Music Director Geoffrey Larson Awarded Second Prize in Almería International Conducting Competition

On December 7, the final round of I Concurso Internacional de Dirección de Orquesta took place at the Auditorio Maestro Padilla in Almería, Spain. 126 conductors from 26 different countries participated in the three-round competition, hosted by Universidad de Almería. Following his performance of the final movement of Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony and the tenor aria Dalla sua pace from Mozart’s Don Giovanni, sung by Javier Palacios, Geoffrey Larson was awarded Second Prize. Friedrich Praetorius of Germany was awarded First Prize, and the two other finalists were Mason Lubert (USA/Austria) and Nahtanaël Iselin (France).
