Bringing music to life with a virtuosic new education program.

As a part of SMCO Out Loud!, musicians of the ensemble lead unique and exciting hands-on musical activities throughout a variety of schools in the greater Seattle area, with a focus on schools in low-income areas. These activities tie into existing curriculum in subjects such as mathematics and creative writing, and correspond to the themes of the orchestral season concerts. Each session culminates with special opportunities for participating students to be a part of the SMCO performance experience. With the launch of SMCO Out Loud!, the ensemble continues its mission of engaging young listeners, striving to break down barriers that prevent racially diverse youth from experiencing great music.

SMCO Out Loud! sessions are provided free of charge for the participating school, and take place in the classroom or other on-site location. Students in participating Title I school classrooms are provided with SMCO Family Passes, allowing them and members of their family to attend the upcoming SMCO performance free of charge.
